LOTO Logic · Digital work permit

Know which board is safe, to the minute.

IsoLedger replaces the paper work permit and manual lock-out/tag-out process with one controlled digital workflow. The Golden 8 enforces the right order, and the model tells you what a lockout will take down with it.

What it is

From paper permit to controlled workflow.

Taking an electrical board out of service follows a fixed, signed procedure in IsoLedger, supervised by an installation manager. The manual LOTO process becomes safer, faster and fully traceable.

Paper permits get lost, become illegible or are filled in incompletely.

No real-time view of which boards are locked out and which are still live.

LOTO steps aren't always followed demonstrably or in the right order.

Audits and lookups after the fact cost a lot of manual time.

The solution

One central place for every lockout.

Every installation appears as an interactive single-line diagram and topology overview. A requester clicks the padlock on a board to start. The system guards each step, secures the right safety measures and keeps a complete, immutable history.

The benefits

Safer, faster and demonstrable.

Safety first

The Golden 8 enforces the right order: de-energize, lock out, verify, and only then work.

Demonstrable

Every step gets a name, date and timestamp, plus the digital signature of whoever performed it.

Real-time overview

Green means in service, red means locked out, synced across single-line and topology.

Secured measures

Safety measures per zone are remembered and proposed automatically for the next request in that zone.

Less admin

No more paper: the full work permit rolls out automatically as a PDF, with the risk analysis attached.

Compliance-ready

A complete, immutable history per board: the audit trail that turns lookups and inspections into a formality.

Real-time overview

One glance, and you know what's safe.

In the single-line and topology view, every board takes on the color of its status. On large sites, with their tunnels, platforms and rooms, you see at once which zones are locked out and which are still live.

Setting up your model

Your installation, in IsoLedger in days.

Modelling your switchboards sounds like a big job. It isn't. If your installation already exists in Caneco, you import it. If it doesn't, we build it for you.

Route 1

Import from Caneco

Is your transformer and installation already modelled in Caneco? Then a single export and import is enough. All essential data comes straight across: boards, feeders, consumers and their relationships. No retyping, no transcription errors.

Route 2

We build it for you

No Caneco file? Lightstream sets your model up: we work from your single-line diagrams and floor plans and deliver a working installation, ready to use. A paid service, quoted up front.

Boards with several incoming feeds

Real installations aren't a simple tree. IsoLedger handles boards fed from more than one side, so coupling and back-feeds are part of the model instead of a note in the margin.

Knows what is really hanging below

In installations that have grown over decades, the overview gets lost: diagrams age, and the knowledge sits in someone’s head. IsoLedger keeps the model and works out what a lockout takes down with it. Critical consumers affected? You get a warning before approval.

Because you do not want to hear about that sump pump when the basement is already under water.

How it works

From request to release, in five moves.

Two roles take part: the lockout requester (the contractor) and the installation manager (the owner or operator). IsoLedger guides them step by step.

1

Identify the board

The requester finds the board in the single-line and clicks the padlock to start the request.

2

Request lockout

Set the date, upload the risk analysis and work description, confirm with a password.

3

Approve

The manager sets the validity, ticks the measures and approves or rejects.

4

Run the Golden 8

On site the requester works through the steps. At step 7 the board is officially locked out.

5

Release

After the work the requester requests release. The manager safely switches back on.

The Golden 8 in detail

Steps 1 to 7 by the requester · step 8 by the manager
1

Prepare the work

Check permit, measures and tools; upload the risk analysis.

Requester
2

Disconnect or isolate

De-energize the installation fully via the dedicated disconnector.

Requester
3

Lock out (LOTO)

Lock the switch so re-energizing is impossible; attach lock and tag.

Requester
4

Verify absence of voltage

Use a calibrated tester to confirm voltage is truly absent.

5

Earth & short-circuit

Where applicable: cables, capacitors, large installations.

6

Demarcate the work zone

Where applicable: mark the zone with tape or barriers and signage.

7

Release for work

All steps complete: the board is officially locked out, the permit is active.

8

Switch back on

Remove locks and earths, clear the zone, switch the installation back on.

Manager
Who it's for

Four roles, one controlled process.

Rights are set per user. Everyone sees and does only what they may, and every critical action is confirmed with a personal password as a digital signature.

Administrator

Manages the project, users, boards and the full topology.

Installation manager

Approves or rejects requests, sets measures and validity, and grants release.

Lockout requester

Requests lockouts and runs the Golden 8 on site.

Viewer

Has read-only access to status and overviews, without intervening.
